The 5 WWE Matches I’m looking forward to this weekend.

wrestlemania-35-wz-socialIt’s the biggest weekend of the year for wrestling fans, WrestleMania weekend. The biggest WWE events this weekend are WrestleMania 35 on Sunday and NXT TakeOver: New York on Friday. The following is a list of five matches I’m looking forward to the most.

WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne vs. Walter (TakeOver)

Dunne is the longest reigning WWE Champion of any kind since Hulk Hogan’s first WWF Title reign in the mid 1980’s. Dunne has defeated everybody that has tried to end his 22 month reign as WWE United Kingdom Champion, but Walter is his toughest opponent to date. Walter may be new to the WWE, debuting at NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool last January, but he’s been widely considered one of Europe’s best wrestlers for years.

Johnny Gargano vs. Adam Cole in a Best 2 out of 3 Falls Match for the vacant NXT Championship (TakeOver)

Unfortunately in this business, injury provides opportunity, NXT Champion Tomasso Ciampa suffered a serious neck injury and was stripped of his championship. World Wrestling Entertainment COO, Triple H ruled that top contenders Johnny Gargano and Adam Cole will do battle in a Best 2 out of 3 Falls Match, a throwback to the traditional way major championships were decided in the 1960’s through the 80’s, to
decide the new champion. Since the eventual winner will have to win two times to capture the championship, it’s guaranteed the better man will leave New York with the NXT Championship.

AJ Styles vs. Randy Orton (WrestleMania)

On to WrestleMania 35 now, the main event of the weekend if you will. This match will be very interesting as it’s the first time these two future Hall of Famers will meet in a major event. The insults and blows have been flying the last few weeks on Smackdown Live as this match is very personal. This is one WrestleMania match where fans really can’t guess who will win.

WWE Champion Daniel Bryan vs. Kofi Kingston (WrestleMania)

#KofiMania is trending among the WWE Universe on Social Media as fans have rallied behind Kofi ever since he was announced as Mustafa Ali’s replacement in the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber Match last February. However in Kofi’s eleven year WWE career he has never received a one on one match for the WWE Championship. WrestleMania is all about moments, and it would be an incredible moment for Kofi to win the championship. Reigning WWE Champion Daniel Bryan has other ideas in
mind as he will do everything in his power to retain his championship and end #KofiMania in disappointment

RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey vs. Smackdown Live Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair vs.Becky Lynch in a Winner Takes All Match (WrestleMania)

This is the main event of WrestleMania, the first time ever that a Women’s Match will headline WWE’s biggest show of the year. These three ladies earned that distinction in different ways. RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey is one of the most recognizable women athletes in the world even after herretirement from the UFC. Even though, she has been in WWE for over a year now, the company is still banking on her drawing interest among the casual fans who may not be subscribed to the WWE
Network. Becky Lynch won the 2019 Women’s Royal Rumble in January which guaranteed her a Championship Match at WrestleMania. Even though her storied road to WrestleMania has been very bumpy and curvy, “The Man” is confident she will walk out of MetLife Stadium on Sunday Night with both championships. Smackdown Live Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair is much more then a third wheel in this equation. She is the most decorated and arguably most successful woman in the WWE. Even though WWE Chairman Vince McMahon placed Flair in this match before she won her
championship, she deserves to be in the first Women’s WrestleMania Main Event just as much as anyone. You add in the fact that these three women hate each other, and two championships are on the line, this promises to be one of the best WrestleMania Main Events of all time.
