WrestleMania 35 streams live on the WWE Network today starting at 5 PM EDT. Here are my predictions.
Lacey Evans wins The WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal
She’ll likely just strut around the ring until there’s only two women left, Asuka and Ruby Riott, and she’ll eliminate them both to win.
Big E. wins The Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal:
Braun Strowman and The SNL comedians will take each other out of the equation leaving Big E and Apolo Crews to battle in a solid finale. Since this will be on the Kickoff Show, the announcers will ask if this is a good omen for Kofi Kingston.
The Miz pins Shane McMahon in a Falls Count Anywhere Match.
This should be a good brawl that goes all over the arena. Shane will tease doing a big stunt, but he will hesitate causing him to lose.
Baron Corbin pins Kurt Angle in Angle’s farewell match.
As much as we love Angle, it’s obvious that he isn’t the wrestler he used to be, and wrestlers rarely win their farewell match.
AJ Styles pins Randy Orton.
This is one of the matches I’m looking forward to the most. It’s hard to pick a winner here, but I’m going with Styles because I see WWE relying on him more going forward.
Drew McIntyre pins Roman Reigns
No I’m not crazy, As great as it would be to see Roman win after returning from Leukemia, the WWE have put to much effort into McIntyre to have him lose. The WWE can tell a story where Roman is not 100%. The WWE can reestablish Roman as a big star whenever they need to, and McIntyre can be established here as a top contender to either the WWE or Universal Championship depending on what happens with the superstar shake up in a week.
Batista pins Triple H in a No Holds Match.
I can’t see Batista returning only to lose to Triple H. I think Hunter putting his in ring career on the line is just WWE’s way of getting people to think he will win. Besides it’s wrestling, and no one honors their retirement stipulations. Triple H will wrestle again win or lose. Batista gets a moment here.
WWE Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy pins Tony Neese to retain the title.
Not much to say here as WWE does little to promote 205 Live. It’s a shame because there are great athletes on that brand. Hopefully we see the Cruiserweight Division return to RAW or Smackdown Live soon.
RAW Tag Team Champions The Revival defeat Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder to retain the championship
This is going to be a better match then people think. I see Hawkins getting some believable near falls in before extending his losing streak.
Aleistar Black and Ricochet defeat the Smackdown Tag Team Champions The Uso’s, The Bar, and Shinsuke Nakamura and Rusev to win the titles.
The former NXT stars get the job done and finally win the belts. I predict they will continue their feud with The Revival afterwards and have one last match to unify the Tag Titles before the shake up.
WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Sasha Banks and Bayley defeat The Iiconics, Nia Jax and Tamina, Natalya and Beth Phoenix to retain the championships.
It’s great to see Beth Phoenix return, but I don’t see any reason for The Boss ‘N’ Hug Connection to lose the belts tonight. If they do it would just be doing a surprise just for the sake of it.
WWE U.S. Champion Samoa Joe defeats Rey Mysterio to retain the title
As much as I want to see Mysterio get another WrestleMania moment, Samoa Joe shouldn’t lose the title this soon. He needs to be dominant going forward.
Finn Bálor pins WWE I.C. Champion Bobby Lashley to win the title.
When Balor channels the demon king he is undefeated, and I don’t see Lashley changing that. The Demon’s entrance should be longer then the match.
Kofi Kingston pins WWE Champion Daniel Bryan to win The Title.
This is one of the hardest matches to predict. As much as I love Daniel Bryan, I think WWE will capitalize on Kofi’s popularity and the headlines his win will grab. I think eventually Big E. will turn on Kofi, demand a Title Shot, and win the title by SummerSlam.
Seth Rollins pins Universal Champion Brock Lesnar to win the title.
Rollins has been the backbone of Monday Night RAW since the brand split and he finally captures the title that has eluded him. I wouldn’t be totally surprised if Lesnar retained (especially if Reigns beats McIntyre), but WWE shouldn’t wait any longer to do the title change as Lesnar should have only been a transitional champion after Reigns vacated the title last October.
Becky Lynch defeats RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey and Smackdown Live Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair to win both titles.
The one problem with WrestleMania Main Events is that they can be pretty predictable. Lynch is winning because if she doesn’t the last three months of her character’s storyline is wasted. The bigger question is does she beat Rousey or Flair. I think she beats Flair. There are rumors that Rousey wants to take some time off from WWE after Mania to start a family, and I think her eventual return would be
more impactful if she can remain undefeated in WWE.
Well that’s my predictions for the show. Will I be right more then I’m wrong, and what will my grade be for this show. Check back on Monday for my report card.
