Nipsey Hussle’s Unexpected Death: A Tragedy.

On Sunday March 31st, Hip Hop lost a legend and community activist. Ermias Asghedom, mostly known as Nipsey Hussle was shot multiple times along with two other men said to be in critical condition. Hussle was rushed to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. He was 33 years old.

Authorities identified the suspect as Eric Holder, 29. Holder visited Hussle’s clothing store Marathon Clothing in LA, and the two exchanged words before he came back to murder the rapper. According to Police, the rapper was there to gather clothing for a friend that had just been released from prison.

The Grammy award-nominated artist was is survived by his parents Angelique Smith and Dawit Asghedom, his wife Lauren London, and children Emani and Kross, and a plethora of other family, friends, and lastly his fans and those he supported in his community.

Eric Holder was charged with the murder of Nipsey Hussle and has entered a non-guilty plea on one charge of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon. Holder is currently in solitary confinement, held on a 5 million dollar release bond in a South LA prison.

Chris Darden, OJ Simpson’s former lawyer has taken on Holder’s case. Since taking on this high profile case, Darden has received tons of backlash from the black community that is seeking justice for what has happened. If convicted, Holder can face life in prison.

Hussle, although formally involved in gang violence, was using his platform to build and uplift his community. He inspired and touched the spirits of many. His memorial service will was held on Thursday April 11th 2019 from 10am-12pm at the Staples Center in Los Angeles which was open to the public. The home going service was streamed live for fans to watch.
